Born 1949 in Prague, Czech Republic. During the years 1966-1973, I have studied Dutch and German at the Charles University in Prague. My specialization was German literature, and I also acquired the certificate to teach Dutch and German on secondary and high schools. After my study, I moved to the Ostrava, a town with much heavy industry. During the years 1974 – 1981, I worked here in a metallurgical plant as information retrieval worker. In this town, I completed my language education by the so called state examinations in English and French. In 1981, I went back to Prague and worked in various domains (information science and medicine), again as information retrieval worker. Approximately during the years 1982 – 1988 I visited a course of the Romani (i.e. Gypsy) language at the Language school in Prague. In 1988 I started a career as a freelance translator and interpreter. Since 1990, I am sworn translator of the Dutch and Romani language. In 2009, I completed my doctoral study and acquired the qualification Ph.D. in the subject Philology/German languages and literatures. I am married since 1974 and I have two children, who are already mature-aged. |
