TATSUYA KAWAHARA - Japan

I am Tatsuya Kawahara, professor of Kyoto University, Japan.

My background is computer science and have engaged in the research of automatic speech recognition. (I am also interested in language itself as a hobby)

As I gave a talk in the Beijing Conference, I am now involved in design and development of new transcription system for the House of Representatives of the Japanese Diet, which is based on automatic speech recognition, replacing the current shorthand system, yet to be used by stenographers.

I hope our system deployment and assessment will be done by the next Intersteno Congress.
